49 uplift schemes executed in KunduzKUNDUZ/MAZAR-I-SHARIF : Forty-nine different developmental projects have been executed in the northern Kunduz province under National Solidarity Programme (NSP) of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD), an official said on Monday. Media officer of the Rural Rehabilitation and Development Directorate, Hidayatullah Ziarmal, told Pajhwok Afghan News about 1100 families in Ali Abad, Dasht-i-Archi, Chahar Darra, Imam Sahib, Khanabad districts and neighbourhood of Kunduz City would take benefit form the projects. He added the projects included gravelling of 19-kilometre road, construction of 129 small bridges, 22-metre retaining wall, three buildings for community centers, digging 115 wells, 76-km electricity lines, three water-heads and 13 courses for women in tailoring, literacy and carpet-weaving. These projects were completed with the cost of 29 millions afghanis. Meanwhile, a project of providing electricity to 200 families in provincial capital Maimanah of northern Faryab province was completed on Monday. Governor's spokesman, Jawed Baidar, said a power transformer with the capacity of 100 kilowatts was provided by the Ministry of Energy and Water worth 2.5 millions afghanis for Aziz Abad village of the city. A resident from the area named Abdul Qadeer said the residents allotted 350 meters square of land for installation of the transformer. He added before they had to use gas-cylinders and electricity generators for lightening which was very expensive, but now they would find cheap electricity. The electricity supply to the province form neighboring Turkmenistan started in 2006.
