Work on two projects launched



CHARIKAR/BAMYAN : Construction work on a new building for the Women Affairs Department in Bamyan and a seminary and a mosque in Parwan province was launched on Saturday.

The mosque, being constructed in Jabl-us-Siraj district of Parwan, will have the capacity to house 1,000 namazis, officials said. It will be constructed at the cost of 240,000 US dollars provided by a local businessman named Aqa Gul.

Head of Parwan Education Department Abdul Zahoor Hakim told Pajhwok Afghan News students at the Abu Zar Ghaffari Darul Haffaz (Quran-memorisation centre), numbering some 200, used to study in old rented rooms.

He said the building would have 12 classrooms and two administrative rooms. Construction of the new building would solve problems of students at the seminary, he hoped

Also on Saturday, work was launched on the construction of a new building for the Women Affairs Department in central Bamyan province. Women Affairs Director Fatima Kazimyan told Pajhwok the two-storey building would have 24 rooms.

It would be constructed on three acres of land. She said it was being erected at the cost of 11.4 million afghanis. The official added the existing building did not suit them well. The fresh construction would solve problems of the employees.

Bamyan Governor Habiba Sarabi also joined the ground-breaking ceremony for the building. She said it was the 25th government building being constructed in the province over the past few years.
